An update from me! Well I finally got to see the ETS surgeon yesterday after getting lost in Newcastle (Large City 70miles from Carlisle) following an ambulance to the wrong hospital (20 mins before my appointment lol) asking at numerous bus stops for directions with the resulting shakes of the heads and “your miles away mate – go to the traffic lights, turn left at the McDonalds grocers, across the roundabout, go onto the motorway for the Metro-Centre then come of it at the next junction, come back on yourself about a mile, round the airport, on the other side of the football ground till you………..no that’s not right mate (says another) what you need to do is turn round – you know where B&Q is……….” in the end I paid a taxi driver and followed him! Hehe. Anyway many of you have discussed ETS surgery with me and I said I’d let you know what happened at this appointment that I instigated last October or so (yes it’s taken that length of time). Basically I thought the surgeon glossed over the potential side effects (of severe compensatory sweating, thermoregulatory disorder and horners syndrome) he was willing to perform the operation severing the T2 nerves but he didn’t use the now preferred method of clamping that holds hope of reversal if side effects are noted – and as I’m having such success with the Aloe Vera products (not perfect but the best I’ve ever been) I told him to stick it! (as you guessed I didn’t like him much! You know the sort arrogant doesn’t like being questioned by a mere patient). So that’s it for what it’s worth. For more information on ETS surgery see the many links on the Reviewed Links page. kcn.
Subject: Thankyou
Along with everyone else I was so glad to find your site, Thankyou. I have recently been diagnosed with rosacea and am wondering whether any particular foods or drinks or vitamins can help, or whether any should be avoided. Is wine bad for you? I have tried to increase my intake of fruit vegetables and water. Any advice? and thanks again I feel better knowing that I am not alone!
Hi Lynne thank you very much for writing it's great to hear off you. My best advice is twofold try my Aloe Vera products (no guarantee but works great for many including me) and follow the advice in the sheets I’ve included below.

Hello:
My face really just got bad enough to go to a dermatologist last Wednesday- where it was diagnosed as rosacea.
I was given Metrocream. My skin is dry, flaking, and a little red- NO
ITCHING or BURNING!
I had the red bumps on my nose for the last week and these are slightly
fading. I used the metrocream Wed- thru Friday then used nothing for the
last 2 days. Not even cleanser. This morning I used Cetaphil cleanser and
my face started itching and burning all over (even where there is NO red). I
am thinking that the Metrocream is actually irritating the skin but then so
is light cleansing.
What the heck do I use to cleanse my face? And have you heard of Metrocream?
I felt normal when I didn't wash or medicate it.
Thanks,
Carol*
Hi Carol well I just started the application to accept credit cards but it's taking SO long I've postponed it! Most rosacea sufferers benefit from all 3 products cleansing, moisturising and treatment with the gel (although I find the moisturiser is a good treatment in itself). Your skin is very sensitive at present obviously - if you have ordered the Aloe Vera products I would cleanse once every few days with the cleanser as you are doing and each day I would apply the moisturiser and then the gel to you face (perhaps a damp face to dilute the products) and then wash off with lukewarm water after 10mins and gradually increase the amount of time the moisturiser and gel stay on the face until you can apply and leave on morning and evening. Follow the info on trigger factors included with your order too. Remember I am here if you need to chat.

HI, I have had it with acne vulgaris. I just turned 18 and have been going to a dermo
for 3 1/2 months. But it almost seems like my acne vulgaris was better BEFORE I went.
I wasn't getting many breakouts for about three years and then this year
they started getting a little worse. I don't have severe acne vulgaris, but it still
upsets me. I'm on an antibiotic (I think tetrocycline) and I use differin at
night and azalec in the morning. But it doesn't seem to be having that much
of an effect. I am wondering if I should go on the pill cause my periods are
irregular and I heard that the pill can really help, or maybe I should just
go on accutane. But I've heard so many horror stories about accutane that
I'd be scared to use it. Plus, my doctor said at my second appt. that it was
getting better (but I think he's a nut cause it's not). WHAT SHOULD I DO???
I know I should be patient, but it's my senior year and all I want is clear
skin for prom and graduation. Please respond.
Ahh Doctors are the same the world over then hehe. If you were my daughter I would advise trying the contraceptive pill Dianette as with all treatments it works for some and not others but many women find it of great benefit. Differin and Azelec acid can make your skin appear worse in the short term before bringing about good results because they push the matter up and out of the spots you have and ones that were forming and hadn't noticed - you may benefit from the Aloe Vera products which you may find soothing against the sometimes harsh effects of these treatments. Let me know how you get on with the pill and remember I'm always here (when I'm not at work) if you need to chat.

I have been diagnosed with rosacea today after suffering for 6 months or so.
The doctor has prescribed Erythromycin for 2 months, I am not completely happy to take antibiotics for this length of time and would like to try an alternative treatment.
In your experience is it best to take the antibiotics and try your gels etc. or see how the drugs go first?
Well if you are happy with the treatments from your Doctors and they are costing you nothing - I don't see much reason to change except for the potential long term side effects of systemic antibiotics which may decide you to try other treatments. Perhaps try both antibiotics and the Aloe Vera products for a time and then reduce the antibiotics and see how you get on.

Thanks for your reply. My visits to the eye unit in the hospital resulted in
this visit for surgery. The original doctor who saw me was supposed to be an
expert. The eye was in an awful state so he presumed it was a cyst. Had I not
found the rosacea information on the Internet, I would have willingly let them
do what they thought fit. I cannot thank people like yourself enough for the
information you supply.
I will keep you informed although I cannot see me going back to any doctor
regarding my face or eye - they do not seem to understand.
Regards
Liz
Thanks for your rapid response. Its great that there are people 'out
there' who
care.
Armed with my 'rosacea Review' newsletter, I went to the Day Surgery Unit
this
morning. The first doctor asked me the usual questions - how long had I
had the
problem etc. She seemed unsure so I showed her the piece regarding ocular
rosacea. She immediately agreed with me and said that although there was
swelling, there was no cyst. I knew this. She advised me to use soda
bicarbonate or Johnsons baby shampoo to cleanse my eyes. I told her I was
on
medication and she said this was the correct treatment.
Another doctor came along and having been told the situation, immediately
asked
me if I drank! I asked him if he drank! I explained about 'trip wires'
and he
was totally lost. In the end, he went onto the next patient and I felt he
had
lost the plot! He was only in his 30s so should have been more well
versed on
the problem I felt. I came away feeling slightly angry, but more
determined to
try to help control my rosacea.
Please keep up the good work, as my experience with doctors regarding the
condition has been poor.
Thanks
Liz
Liz that is incredible absolutely incredible I shouldn't be but I'm
speechless. I don't have a serious problem with my eyes just watering though. Keep me
upto date!

Hello,
I would like some info. Would Folic Acid Vitamin be considered a B Vitamin
that could aggravate rosacea?
Thanks,

Hi Carol thanks for writing as far as I'm aware it is only vitamin b3 in the form Niacin that causes flushing problems.

Hi
Just thought I would drop you a line to update you where I am up to. Last
time I wrote I was trying homeopathy which I did for about 6 months.
Although it helped me psychologically - being a bit of a worrier etc and
at
first my skin seemed to be getting better, in the long run it didn't seem
to
do anything - which was a shame. My homeopath was surprised as well as
she
expected things to improve more than they had. I mentioned to her about
possible food allergies and then went to see someone at my local health
food
shop who also turned out to be a nutritionist.
The first thing she said to me was - 'I can see you have a bowel
problem' -
well that cheered me up no end! Basically she said I wasn't 'eliminating'
properly - charming! Basically she then went on to suggest - food
combining
(not mixing starch and protein), giving up wheat products (as I was
intolerant) and various other things which are all very well but would be
very difficult to do (i.e. not eating meat and potatoes, bread with
chicken
etc) and expensive. I left thinking that I was a very unhealthy person
when
previously had thought my diet was quite healthy! I did read a book about
food combining which does seem to be very successful for various
conditions
including skin but it is so difficult to do as you can't eat traditional
foods and I do like my food!
As my skin was getting so bad I went to my doctor who is very nice but
said
the only treatments available for rosacea are anti-biotics (which I don't
want to take as think they are bad for you) and Metro cream - which I have
been using. I asked about seeing a dermatologist but she said they would
only say the same thing! All doctors I have seen have said that.
Since then I had read other ideas about rosacea and skin problems
generally
- their relationship to digestion and absorption of toxins from the
stomach,
suggestions of taking a probiotic (as opposed to anti biotic) supplement
etc
etc Also interested in the hormone issue - my skin has definitely got
worse
since coming off the pill - there is a herb extract I am going to start
taking called Agnus Casta or Chaste Tree that is supposed to regulate
women's hormones (and also be an apphrodisiac as well!). For the time
being
I have been taking the metro cream for a couple of weeks and it is
definitely helping but not sure how long for and if I want to take it long
term. So am going to also get some of your Aloe Gel - feel better putting
something more natural on my face that wont have long term side effects.
Trouble is when trying lots of different things - how do you know what has
working?
For the moment my skin is better and people have noticed so it is nice
that
they have noticed something positive for a change!
SW
Hi it's really great to hear off you and your information will be a real
help to others. You of course point out a great difficulty of identifying
what is beneficial or not to rosacea. It will help to keep a diary of
course and take note of the trigger factors mentioned in the Aloe
instructions I include with your order. Perhaps if you can try one of your
treatments at a time and see if you benefit then stop it and try another if
they both work then perhaps combine them. I remember when I was trying to
sort out what was setting me off (with no outside information at all) it
took me 2 years and drove me crazy - I also spent hundreds of pounds in my
local shops to no avail! I look forward to your next update thank you very
much for keeping in touch.

re: makeup tips i sent previously.
the foundation i use is Boots No 7 Ultimate Foundation. It has Vitamin E and sunscreen, it is also light reflecting so looks pretty natural.
a lot of people dont even realise i have rosacea when i wear it as they just think i have a healthy glow from sun or cold. Believe me, ive
tried all the foundations over the yrs, this is the best i have discovered! the worst i have used were Lancome Photogenic and MAC. just
goes to show the priciest names arent always the best. I remember Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC) which was sold in health food shops did a good
foundation too which i always found soothing and good coverage. dont know if they are still going??
if anyone has any info on eye problems please can they write in . its not my actual eyesight, which is perfect (has to be for my job)
its the constant soreness and irritation and watering, i am sure it is linked to my red cheeks, it has the same burning sensation. it
drives me mad, madder than even when i get a bad skin flareup. it is almost constant and i make my eyes even redder as i cant help
rubbing them. its not hayfever, and no eyedrops i have ever used have helped.
please can anyone help.
oh i will check out those details you sent me though, kcn...thanks.

Hello,
I have just stumbled across your great site while trawling for "rosacea"
on the net.
Your site has more info about this subject than I have come across in
twenty years.
Keep up the good work.

This is my first time checking out your site. I would love input re: Benzamycin gel and Tetracycline that has been prescribed for my 16 year old son who has a severe case of acne vulgaris. I have heard some horror stories (even death) due to the use of tetracycline and I'm concerned whether I should give these to my son. If anyone out there has any feedback (good or bad) would you please respond. Thank you!!!!
Hi thank you for writing Tetracycline is a very common antibiotic used for the treatment for many diseases including acne vulgaris and rosacea if you have a look at the emails of week 15 I think it is I have posted details of the drug courtesy of www.gsm.com (an excellent source of free drug info). Benzamycin is one of the most common acne vulgaris treatments in the US - it is a combination of benzoyl peroxide and erythromycin antibiotic for topical use. Please see our acne vulgaris treatments page for some helpful hints on using benzoyl peroxide. Remember acne vulgaris can take some time to show improvement so persevere and try to follow the guidlines that I have pointed to. Let me know how you get on or if I can be of further help.

I don't know if this is the right place but I'll ask anyway.I have the most repulsive thread veins on my cheeks {face!] and am generally red on my cheeks and nose.I don't think I've got rosacea but I do flush really easy and get hot really easy one of the reasons I stopped going to the gym.Its ruling my life. I'm obsessed with trying to cover it up.I'm considering cosmetic laser treatment or sclerotherapy but am scared of scarring. If I could go out with a bag on my head I would.Need people who understand the way it kills your confidence. Please help.
faith
Well your at the right place we all share your feelings and have suffered the same - I've included the instructions I send with my Aloe Vera orders - I certainly would consider laser treatment for your thread veins beware of some private clinics you must have a qualified medical professional to do it - first stop is your GP - let me know how you get on. If you think the symptoms on the enclosed instructions match yours perhaps you could also consider using the Aloe Vera products I sell or if your GP thinks you may have rosacea you may be prescribed tetracyline or/and metronidazole cream. Let me know how you get on.

Dear kcn,
Thank you for hosting a very useful site. I have suffered from rosacea
for
a number of years without really knowing what it was. Finally, a cosmetic
surgeon I saw for another reason, identified it for me. I treated it with
MetroGel and that worked fine for me.
However, long before the facial rosacea showed up, I was troubled with
Ocular rosacea without knowing it. I was able to make this connection
after
visiting your site. For years, I'd had recurrent bouts of Blepharitis and
Conjunctivitis, often accompanied by chalazeons. None of the
opthamologists
I'd seen over the years ever mentioned rosacea, despite the fact that I
told
them my condition was recurrent and would recur often if I didn't use
extraordinary eye hygiene practices. Again, it was through the
information
on your site that I made the connection between my chronic facial rosacea
and my heretofore never diagnosed Ocular rosacea.
THE REASON I'M WRITING IS THAT I SUSPECT MY rosacea MY BE CAUSED OR
AGGRAVATED BY DEMODEX MITES. I read the following information on your
Treatment page: "Some peoples rosacea may be caused or aggravated by the
demodex mite, if you think this is a possibility ask your Doctor about
Ivermectin and topical Permethrin (a link on the news and articles page
will
tell you more)." However I was unable to find the referenced information
on
the News and Articles page. IF THE INFORMATION IS ACTUALLY ON THAT PAGE,
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIND IT; OR IF IT IS NO LONGER ON THE SITE, PLEASE
TELL ME WHERE TO FIND IT.
(In my continued attempt to discover what the problems are with my eyes, I
recently visited a Allergy Specialist. It turned out that I had no
allergic
reactions to any of the allergins they tested on me, except Dust Mites.
I'm
wondering if there is a connection between these and demodex mites. I
just
returned from a two week vacation. My eyes had been bothering me just
before the trip, but they stopped acting up while I was away from home.
Within 12 hours of arriving home, my eyes began to act up again.)
I would appreciate information on how to find the Demodex Mite information
as soon as you can get it to me. Also, please let me know if you think
I'd
be better off with the Aloe Vera Gel than using MetroGel.
Thanks again for hosting this very useful site.
Preston
Hi thank you for your very kind comments it really cheers me up when I know
that I may have been some help to someone - thank you for letting me know.
Yes I've just checked those links and I cannot follow them either - I shall
have to look into it. Basically the article just said that a patient that
had the symptoms of rosacea was successfully treated with the medications
mentioned. I think on readers emails week 15 or 14 Marion says that her
rosacea was successfully treated with Ivermectin in 2 weeks - so I think the
best course of action is to see your Doctor and simple try it. The article
from the missing link is at www.medscape.com and info on drugs is available
at www.gsm.com . Finally if you are having success with Metronidazole and
are happy with it I see no reason to change.
best wishes and take care

Dear kcn
I am 32years old an acne vulgaris suffer and have been suffering for the past 17
years I have tried everything under the Sun to cure it, you name it I have
tried it. Recently I came across your article on acne vulgaris and rosacea lots of
people have commented on Aloe Vera products that you are offering, I
wanted
to ask you a few a question before I place my order.
1) Are the Aloe Vera products recommended for sufferers with only acne vulgaris?
2) Will the Aloe Products help to reduce the scarring?
3) In summer my skin gets very oily which causes more breakouts, are the
Aloe products recommended for oily skin.
PLEASE HELP AWAITING YOUR REPLY.
Yours sincerely
Desperate sufferer
Hi thank you for your enquiry -the Aloe Vera products I have found to be
excellent for my rosacea- I do not have too much feed back from acne vulgaris
sufferers yet - the good feedback on the homepage is mostly from rosacea
sufferers and it is to rosacea sufferers I recommend the Aloe Vera products.
I certainly would recommend them to you for acne vulgaris as a basic skin care
regimen that can help alleviate some of the side effects of prescribed medication
but you will also still need prescribed treatments from your Doctor.
. What prescribed medications have you tried from
your Doctor (and I don't mean those sold over the counter advertised on TV)
let me know. Oh and the Aloe Vera will not help the scarring the usual
treatments for scarring are laser, dermabrasion or collagen injections - I
did read an article saying vitamin c cream and vitamin e cream may be
beneficial but you will need to see your Doctor and be put in touch with a
specialist dermatologist for assessment and prescribed medication.

I have rosacea and I would like your thoughts on the following:
What will get rid of it or make it better??????
Have you heard of Foto Facials (bright intense light on skin to reduce redness) this is different thatn the lazer treatment to relieve broken or red vessels?
Also, why doesn't insurance pay for treatment? Is there a way a doctor can get insurance ot pay for it? I would treat it if I could afford it but I can not.
Claudine Esq
Hi Claudine thank you for writing. Usually the first treatment a Doctor prescribes are metronidazole gel and tetracyline antibiotics as you will see from the readers email pages at my site many are less than happy with the treatment. I and many others who are trying my products are having good success with Aloe Vera products. The other treatments you mention are quite expensive I believe in the States in the UK health care is paid from taxes and free at the point of delivery although poor service and delays of years are common place. As you point out that money is a problem please find enclosed the instructions I send with my Aloe Vera orders there are some things such as diet and lifestyle factors that may assist you.
Good Luck

Hello Webmaster.
I am a woman from Denmark who was diagnosed with rosacea thursday past. I
logged into the internet trying to find some clarification of this
problem.
Unfortunately I didn´t find your site at first but found a very nasty
discription of the illness elsewhere.
Could you please try to explain to me in simple English, how rosacea can
effect the eyes??
I have had burning sensations in both eyes resently and tears running
fast,
but I thought that it came from my contact lenses, which I have used for
many years. My doctor does not seem to know very much about this. But I
have
seen very nasty pictures on the internet of the eyes of rosacea patients.
I don´t think that the eye symptoms can be helped with Aloe
Vera Gel??? My skin problems have not been very serious yet - but I
understand that they can increase very quickly???
Thank you for your time, I really would apreciate your answer as I feel
that
you are very sincere.
Best regards
Vibeke
Hi Vibeke You can ask your Doctor
about Loteprednol steroidal eye drops. I would not worry too much about
things getting worse most people just have a few problems such as watering
eyes a feeling of grittyness etc. If your eyes do become a problem you will know it and be able to get treatment such as the drops mentioned above. Early intervention with the antibiotic
tetracycline has been shown to avoid later problems with the eyes. Your
skin problems need not increase at all try following the advice below. I
hope that is of some help.

I was the olive complected girl who was told by a dermatologist that I am to dark skinned to have rosacea. Well I took your advice and went to another dermatologist. He came into the room took one look at me and blurted out "You have rosacea" . Well "duh" !!! I knew that !!! Anyway he gave me some medication , noritate (metronidazole cream) 1% and tetracycline antibiotics. But so far, it's not working very well it's actually getting worse I think. so wish me luck. Again thanks for your site its great. See ya. from Key West. Check out my business site at nativecharters.com

Hi
After suffering for years with severe flushing a friend of mine found your site, and thought she may have found the answer to, what to her, is a near-constant nightmare.
She made an appointment with her GP, who was totally unsympathetic, without even letting her get 3 words out told her that there was no way this was what she was suffering from, and that she was totally unqualified to make any sort of assesment of her own condition.
Is there a register of specific dermatologists in the UK who might have more time to listen and not judge someone who has real problems with their skin? - I have tried searching the web but have not found anything useful.
Any help gratefully received!
Thanks, Claire
Hi Claire that is appaling news I would ask your friend to change Doctors - perhaps just make another appointment with a different Doctor in the same practice - just phone up and say I want an appointment with Dr Bloggs please. Then try all the Doctors and if they are all ignorant *&^^%&%ers then change to another group of Doctors - I believe it is easily done and you don't have to give a reason. I go and see my Doctor and say right I have this and that and I want to try this or that treatment usually he says no you can't have or I've never heard of that - or no it's not for that etc etc but as he knows how severally my rosacea has clinically depressed me in the past although he doesn't like being "educated" by a patient he is now willing to learn and do what I ask (and I'm usually right anyway (not always)). So the key is to show your Doctor what a devastating effect your condition has on your life the feelings of hopelessness, despair, tell your Doctor you are off your food, cannot sleep are tearful you cannot go out your isolated - write it down on a note and give it to the Doctor at your consultation. Write to the ASG acne vulgaris support group address on the links page for a possible list of dermatologists. I recommend trying my Aloe Vera products too they have really helped my flushing problem but there are no guarantees of course - I presume your friend wishes to discuss dixarit with her Doctor? I certainly recommend her trying it but of course as with all treatments it works for some and not others. Let me know how you get on.

Hi!
I had taken couple of 6 months courses on antibiotics to clear acne vulgaris -
until
last year when I had a terrible breakout. The doctor didn't know what it
was
and kept trying new creams - until I saw another doctor - and I just
cried!
He referred me to a dermatologist who I got to see within a week
(private!)
and said "Oh thats rosacea!".
I started another course of antibiotics. People either thought I had a
catchy skin disease or even been involved in a fight!
I have been on antibiotics ever since (including topical). I tried to
reduce
the dose a few times - and with four days my skin is awfull.
I am a bit fed up of taking antibiotis - and I am getting married later
this
year and want to start trying for a family straight away.
I would also be grateful if you would include me on your mailing list.
I am so glad I have found fellow suffers on-line!
If you need any help - let me know.
Rajni
Dear Rajni thank you very much for writing. I really do hope you have the
same success as I have had with the Aloe Vera products of course there is no
guarantee as you will see from the readers emails all treatments only work
for some and not others because we are all different - but I am still having
great success with them as are others so its worth a try. Thank you for
your offer of help too.

Hello,
I'm three months pregnant and my rosacea is the worst it's ever been. Is there a safe drug or treatment I can use? I don't suffer from flushing, but my face is red, lumpy, with sore little white heads, and my eyes are crusty and sore.
Any advice on make-up to buy would be helpful as everything I've used so far is making it worse. Also how should I clean my face and should I use moisturiser?
HELP!
Thank you in advance,
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl last week we had a few useful emails about make up that may be of help for you. As with all things it is a case of trying, trying different ones until you find the one that works for you. As for a treatment that will help you my Aloe Vera products do work for many people therefore they are altering the body chemistry therefore they are a drug and as such I wouldn't recommend them during pregnancy or when nursing - just in case of complications - I advise checking with your Doctor he/she will probably advise against treatments during pregnancy but see what they say. So for now I would just leave your face alone anything you put on it may aggravate your condition just wash off dead skin when required even if that is only every few days (best to rest your face and not apply makeup if you can) with plain lukewarm water. I've enclosed an advice sheet for you. Sorry I cannot be of more help but I really cannot take any chances where the unborn are at risk.

Hey kcn,
Whats up with you? Not much here. Same sh*t different day. Problems Problems Problems. I swear this sh#*t never goes away. Im still using the aloe vera, its still working pretty damn good. Ive only been using it about 2-3 weeks, and have had maybe 3 or 4 major flushes. The good thing for me and my rosacea is its almost spring time, and for some odd reason my rosacea only acts up during winter months. It NEVER acts up when its warm out, unless im in the sun for long periods of time. My problem right now is my acne vulgaris is starting to get out of control all of the sudden. I have a major shaving problem or something because im really only breakin out on my chin, and along where u shave. I use an electric razor I get bumps and break out. I use a gillete sensor excel normal razor and I break out. My dad told me maybe I should get shaving lotion for the electric razor. I didnt even know they made that? shaving cream or gel whatever for an electric. Anyways sorry for rambling, maybe u can help me out. I know u suggest the electric . I dont know maybe I need to switch medications. Like I told u before Ive been takin Tetracyline for 2 years now, or maybe I can use benzoyl peroxide during the day and aloe vera at night. Cause remember my rosacea dies down during summer. I dont know im rambling, please right back when u can.
Brent
Hi Brent great to hear off you again. I'm unhappy because my internet connections so slow I haven't been able to get on a CounterStrike game for 3 sodding weeks the day I can afford dsl is the day I kick backside!! lol hehe. I think you would find a shaving cream aggravating to your rosacea and if the Aloe Vera isn't helping the shaving rash I don't imagine a cosmetic cream would help. Definately stick with your electric razor and did you consider changing from tetracyline to erythromycin or clindamycin the bacteria on your face may be immune to tetracyline now. I would certainly use both benzoly peroxide and the Aloe morning and evening and what about changing the benzoyl peroxide to benzamycin that has benzoyl peroxide and erythromycin in that should be less irritating and may calm your skin enough to be able to shave. And finally why not grow a cool beard like me? I've just grown one for the first time a big ginger beard I look like a backwoods man lol hey but I like it! The cold weather is more of a trigger for me too I like the summer - except we don't get much of one this far north.
take care Brent and keep in touch mate

Hello,
I was diagnosed with rosacea several years ago. I have been using Metro Gel as part of my daily regimen. I have not experienced any side effects.
I discovered Lancome Dual Finish makeup works best for me. I have to wear the Metro Gel and a sunscreen. Most makeups tend to pool in areas of my skin, but the Dual Finish makeup tends to stay on evenly. Yes, I do have to reapply from time-to-time, but I have had great results.
I suggest applying the makeup only to those affected areas, cheeks, forehead, etc. The makeup is powdery by nature and may accentuate facial lines. Yes, it does tend to be more expensive than your average drug store makeup, but it is worth it.
Thank you for creating the web site.
Excellent thank you very much for your input to the site. Emails like yours are the sites most valuable resource.

I wonder if you could offer some advice.
My mother has been diagnosed as having acne vulgaris rosacea. She is managing to
keep
it under control with Aloe Vera but would like to be able to use a
foundation on her face when the redness is particularly noticeable.
We have tried all the major stores an no-one is able to suggest anything.
All foundations seem to be oil based.
Do you know of any particular cosmetic manufacturers that cater for
dermatological conditions?
Kind Regards
Sarah
Hi thank you for writing. We have some useful emails about make up coming
in now after the appeal I made some recommendations are on last weeks emails
and some more will be posted soon. Below is the instructions I send with my
Aloe Vera orders it may be of further benefit to your mother.

Hi,
It's me again.
I wanna ask you something..
Is this product can be use for any kind of acne vulgaris?
I'm afraid that it can not.
Thank you.
Melinda.
Hi Melinda I recommend the Aloe Vera regimen as simply the best products I have used for the treatment of rosacea symptoms - it works for many not for all - no treatment works for all as you can see from my emails that is because we all have slightly different body chemistrys and react variably to different treatments. I recommend the Aloe Vera regimen as a basic skin care routine to be used alongside prescribed medication for acne vulgaris Vulgaris - this is because many acne vulgaris Vulgaris treatments may cause irritation and dryness that the Aloe Vera may help calm.

Dear Sir
I have vitilgo on my cheeks and recently diagnosed as having rosacea on my
cheeks. Bad luck indeed. I wanted to try the Aloe vera gel. Is it
fragrance free? I presume because it is a natural product there a few side
effects.
Many thanks
Abbas
Hi Abbas thank you for writing - there is no fragrance or anything of that
sort in the Aloe Vera products. The gel does not dry the skin but can make it feel tight -
the moisturiser alleviates that and is beneficial in its own right having
herbal extracts in it - cleansing is also important so consider the soap
free cleanser - I find all 3 products work best together. I and many others
have found the products to be excellent but of course there are no
guarantees - no one treatment works for all as you can see from the emails I
get.

I have been diagnosed with Rosecea . Initially my whole face stayed red
with concentration on cheeks and forehead and warm most of the day,
especially in the winter when I came in from the cold into the indoors
where the heat was on. Secondly, stress etc caused flare-ups. I noticed a
strange way of reducing the flare-ups, for a short time anyway. During my
lunch break, I go in my car put on some soft music and turn on the air
conditioning. The air conditioning cools my face down and I guess the
music
calms me down as well. Weird Isn't?
Anyway, have you ever heard of cold air blowing on the face to cause a
rosecea sufferer to cool down? Have you ever heard of a rosecea sufferer
to
have the whole face turn reddish with concentration areas? Sometime it
affects my neck and ears. Is this normal? Hope to hear from you soon.
Hi no that's not strange at all. I find the cold fan in the car very
beneficial much to the annoyance of passengers who like to drive in a hot
car - hehe. A flush can certainly affect the areas of the neck and ears but
the areas of the nose, cheeks, forehead and perhaps chin are the areas where
more intransigent redness may appear. I would certainly advise trying the
Aloe products I now sell - I had a 2 hour car journey to hospital for a
consultation yesterday and although I had the car very warm (I had the car as hot as possible I was thinking that as my face hasn’t been very red since using the Aloe Vera products the Doctor would think I was wasting his time (as it was his skin was worse than mine!)) and the hospital
was very warm - I was very pleased to note the reduction in blushing thanks
to Aloe Vera products (come to think of it maybe it was because I wasn’t flushed that he was offhand lol). (anyway that's another story I'll put on the next email page). Drop me a line anytime.

Hi
I have just returned from another consultation with my doctor and have come away with yet another treatment for my acne vulgaris-this time azelaic acid,to add to all the other things I have tried - oral and topical antibiotics, retin a ,benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil, dianette.I am 28 now and have had acne vulgaris for 14 years and it is really beginning to get me down.I know this probably sounds very shallow and vain, but it has got to the point where my first thought in the morning is how bad will my skin look today.
Anyway,I wanted to say I am really glad I found your site-at least I am not the only person going through this.I would really appreciate any tips or advice you could give me
Thanks a lot
Kate
Hi Kate well as you have read we all or have felt exactly as you do. It is natural to wake in the morning and worry about your skin - I used to dread that first look in the mirror - was I going to get on with my life that day or have to hide away? As you will have found from some of the other treatments you have tried (retin- a for instance) your skin may appear worse in the short term as the matter is pushed up and out of the hair follicles of the spots you can see and the ones you don't even know you have but persevere with the treatment and let me know how you get. Philip a regular correspondent found the Aloe Vera products alleviated some of the side effects of his acne vulgaris treatments they could be worth a try. Let me know how you get on.

I have suffered with rosacea for about four years. I was first using Metrogel but found it very drying so asked my doctor to change my prescription to Metrocream which I have now been using for about six months.
I found your web site this week and was very impressed with the amount of information. I read about aloe vera and decided to give it a try. I purchased a bottle of organic aloe vera gel. I cleansed my face with a mild oatmeal, non-soap cleanser then applied the aloe vera gel on my cheeks. After about half an hour my face felt very warm and the skin on my face felt tight and dry. I looked in the mirror and my cheeks were bright red! Am I doing something wrong? Should I be using a moisturizer with the gel? Any help would be appreciated.
Pat
Hi I'm afraid I can't comment on the products you are using because I don't know what is in them - many people are making the same mistake I made a few years ago when I dismissed Aloe Vera and that is to buy a cosmetic product with aloe vera in it - these products are really not suitable. It is common for the gel to make the skin feel tight and this has no detrimental effect the moisturiser I sell alleviates this and I find it very beneficial in its own right (it has soothing herbal extracts in). Of course if your rosacea is at its worst applying the treatments may cause some stinging and transient redness in the short term before improvement is seen - I advise if your products are suitable and I don't know if they are - apply the gel to a moist face and wash off after a short time after the soothing qualities have been absorbed - I would recommend trying all 3 of my products there is no guarantee but they do work very well for many. There of course another possibility and that is you have some sensitivity to anyone of the ingredients in the products you are using including Aloe Vera.

I am having a problem with my face turning flush
throughout my daily activities. When i lift weight,
which I do daily, my face turns brigh red and stays
that way the rest of the day. When my teacher call on
me to ask me a question in class i do the same thing.
It is really emberassing and i want it to go away. I
exercise daily and i am in great condition. I don't
believe i have high blood pressure or high
cholesterol. I find myself turning red when i am home
alone for no reason and it last for hours. Please
help me. I am willing to take your products if you
can refer me to them and how they can help. Is what I
have a form of rosacea?
Hi Steve thank you for writing it's great to hear from you. Unfortunately
you sound very much like myself many years ago - but don't worry my symptoms
never got any worse (apart from a couple of years when I exposed myself to
all sorts of triggers). Before using the Aloe Vera products I got very red
in the face with weight training and that would really set my rosacea off -
but know I find it very much improved - I can now weight train (that does
temporarily increase blood pressure) and drink gallons of cider (not at the
same time of course lol) without ill effects for my rosacea - some things do
still give me a red face though like coffee and very spicy foods so it is
essential to find your own triggers and avoid them. There are drugs from
your Doctors that can help such as Dixarit - some find it very good for
flushing (and as with all treatments so find it less good) so the thing to
do is to try different treatments - I would certainly try the Aloe Vera
products and talk to your Doctor too - let me know how you get on - I've
included the sheets I send with orders see if they help.
best wishes and take care and if you need to talk I'm here

Hugh
